My son, Nick, the historian, touring Preston Castle (Preston School of Industry) in Ione, CA. This institution opened in 1894 as a reform school; 105 years later changing its then-official name to "Preston Youth Correctional Facility". Closed by the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation in 2011, owned by the Preston Castle Foundation since 2014, the building is both a California Historical Landmark and listed on the National Register of Historic Places. It has been described variously as "an ominous presence that screams horror film and haunted encounters", and "said to house angry, vengeful spirts". Everyone remember: "Haunted Boys' Reformatory" on A&E?
